One Cancer Place
About Us
Organization Description
"ONE CANCER PLACE INSTITUTE (OCPI) brings together 3 powerhouses of community-engaged patient advocacy:
1. Erika Hanson Brown, survivor and founder of Colontown and One Cancer Place (OCP)
2. Deborah Collyar, survivor and founder of Patient Advocates in Research (PAIR), an international network of patient advocates who work with research communities
3. Silas Buchanan, founder of Our Healthy Community (OHC), a community-first engagement and innovation company building digital platforms to promote health equity.
Together, these three have formed a single interactive learning environment to reach thousands of people in their networks living before, during and after a cancer experience, advocating for better research and care, and empowering their communities to manage a cancer diagnosis, including:
• 4,000 people living with cancer, participating in individual Facebook groups (OCP)
• 250 professional advocates from diverse organizations representing people with lived experience in cancers and other rare or infectious diseases (PAIR)
• 40 faith-based communities with 2500+ members and a potential reach of 18,000 people, primarily representing communities of color (OHC)
